Crop input operations have become a meaningful part of our story, and it’s a space we’ve grown into by listening, learning, and advocating.
Early on, we saw that this industry was often misunderstood by insurers. Rates were consistently high, largely driven by a broad concern around farm chemicals and the assumption of elevated risk tied to handling and storage. But as we spent more time with owners and operators, it became clear that the reality was very different. This is a highly regulated space, with strict requirements governing every aspect of the operation—from storage and documentation to handling and environmental safety. The people running these businesses are precise, accountable, and deeply committed to doing things right, because their industry demands it.

The gap wasn’t in the operations—it was in how the risk was being understood.

We worked closely with both our clients and insurer partners to help close that gap. By bringing forward a clearer picture of the regulatory environment, the level of oversight already in place, and the discipline required to operate in this space, we were able to reshape how these risks were viewed. That work led to the development of a specialized crop input program that better reflects the true nature of the exposure and has made more appropriate, and often previously unattainable, pricing possible.

This isn’t something we set and forget. The strength of the program comes from ongoing involvement—continuing to educate, advocate, and refine as the industry evolves.
