Governor General Recognizes 20 Year Volunteer
Rempel Insurance Brokers Ltd. is pleased to announce that long time employee Colin Harbinson has been recognized for his dedication to Morris and the surrounding communities through his role with the Morris Fire Department.
Colin joined the Morris Fire Department back in 1990. He approached his employer Rempel Insurance Brokers in 2005, to see if he would have their support to move from the ranks to lead the local fire department. He has recently completed 15 years as an insurance broker. A certain amount of flexibility in a work schedule is essential as Fire Chief; as one is required to attend a majority of the emergency calls. Fires and emergencies often do not occur in the most ideal times so one needs to be able to head to an emergency quickly.
A core value of Rempel Insurance has been to support volunteer community organizations so Colin was encouraged to pursue the position and he has now been Fire Chief for 7 years.
Colin has not only provided leadership to the department as chief, but has trained extensively so that he can pass his skills on to other fire fighters in communities including Morris, Rosenort, Letellier and St. Jean. He has spent countless hours volunteering in training seminars and sharing the skills he has learned to develop strong community fire departments.
