SMI Auto Insurance

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) provides mandatory registration and auto insurance in Manitoba.

Effective April 1, 2021, MPI Mandatory Basic Insurance includes:

• $750 Deductible for passenger vehicles and motorcycle
• $500,000 Third-Party Liability
• $70,000 Maximum Insured Value

Where and why you drive your vehicle is a factor in determining your rates:

Pleasure Driving – used for recreation, limited use for work*

All Purpose – used to go to and from work or school*

Commuter – used to go to and from work or school in a larger city*

• SMI’s formula for driving record rating provides reduced rates for some customers
• Rental Car Insurance included with your owned vehicle insurance; no need to purchase another policy or notify the insurer (up to 90 days coverage in North America)
• Lay up coverage in place if/when you seasonally plate a trailer or motorhome – no additional fees or notice required
• Increased Auto Loss of Use options
• Increased deductible options; as low as a $50 comprehensive deductible
• Trailers (other than semi-trailers) over 41 feet (12.5 m) – coverage not available through MPI
